I’m probably going to offend you, say personal stuff, reference something you don’t like, insult some belief or thought that you enjoy, or just be a basic ass.

If any of the above sounds like it’s probably true, then please don’t read anything here. This is not the place for you and I would wonder why you were here in the first place. Maybe you didn’t know what a dotplan was, but now that you know you can be a grown-up about the whole deal and just stop reading now. Go to Disney.com or something. Fuck off =)

Good, now that we’re past that, what’s a dotplan? When you create an account on a Unix system there are certain files that are created, one of which is called .plan. If you use the command “finger ” it will bring up information about the user you queried like when they last logged on, how many emails they have, but it will also post whatever is in their .plan. So people started using that as like an answering machine, posting whatever they were doing that week, what they had goin on, if they were out of the office for a few weeks, just anything. Game developers started using their .plans to talk about what they were working on and all their fans would read over them like they were mystic tomes. Basically, they were the first blogs, and that is how I use mine.
